Thieves abseiled from roof in Vaughan jewelry store before stealing diamonds: police – Toronto

A group of thieves abseiled into a Vaughan jewelry store from the roof of the building before cutting into a safe and stealing diamonds, police say.

York Regional Police said they responded to the store, located in the Weston Road and Highway 7 area, on April 18 for reports of theft.

Police said after reviewing CCTV, investigators determined that four or five male suspects had visited the business two days prior, on April 16, at around 8:50 p.m.

The suspects gained access to the roof of the building, abseiled inside the unit, drilled a hole in a safe and stole “a quantity of diamonds”, according to police.

On Wednesday, police released brief surveillance video and suspicious footage.

Anyone who can identify the suspects or has dash cam footage of the Weston Road area between Highway 7 and Langstaff Road anytime between the late evening of April 16 and the early morning of April 17 April is asked to contact the police.
