Tag Heuer Carrera Plasma Tourbillon celebrates synthetic diamonds
Chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds, lab-grown gemstones are nothing new, but they are certainly rarely, if ever, used in the luxury watch segment.
The new Tag Heuer Carrera Plasma Tourbillon, featuring innovative Diamant D’Avant-Garde technology – the name of the plasma, CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process used to create synthetic diamonds – allows the brand to use diamonds in unique shapes and textures, manufactured with a network of specialized partners such as Lusix, Capsoul and Diamaze.
This disruptive design featuring lab-grown diamonds marks a milestone in the company’s more than 160-year history and in the watch industry in general. The most affordable tourbillon-chronograph on the market, announced by former CEO Jean-Claude Biver, is now emblematic of the interest of the brand and its last CEO Frédéric Arnault for avant-garde technologies and processes.

Available in a 44mm black case with diamonds encrusted via an invisible setting, the use of anodized aluminum has allowed TAG Heuer to accentuate the sparkle and sparkle of the diamonds set within its black confines; accented by a 2.5ct diamond that serves as a spectacular literal and metaphorical crown.
