At a sparkly event on Friday night, jewelry designer Lauren Harwell Godfrey was celebrated for being selected as a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist. Godfrey used this moment to unveil his new Charity Heart pendant from his eponymous jewelry brand Harwell Godfreywho supports Everytown for Gun Safety, America’s largest gun violence prevention organization. Cast in 18k gold and set with a sustainably and ethically sourced De Beers Code of Origin diamond at its center, the pendant features a hand-engraved pattern around the stone to suggest the reverberations of a gunshot.

“Gun safety is a critical issue in America, and guns are now the leading cause of child death in this country,” says the designer. “As a mother and an American citizen, I feel compelled to do what I can to help fight the gun lobby and be part of this important fight, and that’s why I created this diamond pendant special as the sixth initiative in my Charity Heart series to support the work of Everytown for Gun Safety.

Godfrey launched his Charity Heart Series in 2020, donating 100% of proceeds to personally important nonprofits including NAACP, Futures Without Violence, Human Rights Campaign, Every Mother Counts and World Central Kitchen. The first pendant, created to support World Central Kitchen at the start of COVID-19, was envisioned as a healing talisman. As Godfrey sketched the design, she realized that her signature triangular pattern placed over the repeating heart created what looked like a broken heart that was pieced together. Each heart has an opening bail that can be clipped onto any of the brand’s signature Foundation chains. The bail has two bars creating an equal symbol as a sign of the unity we can achieve when we help each other.

Diamonds are sustainably and ethically sourced under the DeBeers Code of Origin program. De Beers Original Code Diamonds have personalized codes unique to each diamond that ensure it is natural, conflict-free and was discovered by De Beers, confirming its deep commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

Previous Charity Hearts are owned and worn by such figures as Vice President Kamala Harris, Cynthia Erivo and Hilary Swank. The newly unveiled Charity Heart is already owned by stars like Blake Lively and Julianne Moore and was admired by jewelry lover Debra Messing at Friday’s event. We may not need another reason to wear beautiful diamond jewelry, but knowing that you give back in so many ways is definitely the icing on the cake.

The pendant costs $3,500 and will be available exclusively at harwellgodfrey.com.
