Go Local: These Seven Local Scents Are The Perfect Alternatives To Expensive High-End Perfumes – Style

From Sapphire to Bonanza to Colish, these brands offer fragrances ranging from woody notes to fruity and sweet notes while being perennial and local.

If there’s one thing the government’s short-lived import ban has taught us, it’s the importance of buying local. With the price of just about everything on the rise, we decided to go in search of local alternatives to our favorite products and discovered that there are several local alternatives to high-end fragrances that are not only easy to carry but also durable.

We found brands like Khaadi, Outfitters, Maria B, Junaid Jamshed, Bonanza Satrangi, Colish and many more that have their own scents. While many blew us away for their unique scents, some won us over for their longevity and aesthetic packaging.

Here are seven flavors from six local brands you should try.

1. Khaadi

Called Bold, this fragrance is ideal for everyday use. Not only is it fresh, but it has a blend of fruity, strong and floral. Some musky notes make it dry harder than others available from Khaadi, which is why it tops our list.

2. Bonanza Satrangi

Walking through Bonanza’s perfume kiosk in a mall is an experience and while you’ll be drawn to the captivating scents, you’ll be convinced of their longevity. Don’t be put off by the not-so-cute packaging and try a few flavors. The two we enjoyed were Charisma and Panache. Both have floral notes – Panache has a stronger jasmine scent while Charisma has a fresh rose scent.

3. J

If we had to pick our favorite from J.’s women’s collection, it would be Janan. Not only is the bottle beautiful to look at, but the scent is a blend of musk and vanilla notes. Many sweet, subtle scents tend to fade, but this one lasts all day, making it the perfect gift – for yourself or your best friend!

4. Sapphire

If we had to compare Sapphire’s Diamond to another perfume, we would say Versace Bright Crystal. But with a price tag of Rs2,990. With the same notes as a high-end perfume, Sapphire’s Diamond is a must for those who love fruity and citrus scents.

5. colic

More oud, less sweet and fruity, Colish’s Oud Night Out has the perfect base for a heavy, strong scent. Its top notes include pear, strawberry, raspberry and bergamot paired with the oud itself, but we wish it had hints of cherry to give it more depth.

6. Mary B

We had two flavors in mind at Maria B – Amethyst and Gaia – but Gaia won us over with its warm but strong fragrance which is really long lasting and does not fade. We suggest applying both to your wrist and feeling them dry to take your pick.

Gaia has warm cedarwood notes with peach and narcissus while amethyst has aquatic notes with mandarin, black pepper, neroli, tonka and white musk.
