A fan stole the glasses off lightweight champion Charles Oliveira’s face at UFC 269.

“Du Bronx” landed his first-ever title defense in the main event on Dec. 11, 2021. He fought and defeated No. 1-ranked lightweight Dustin Poirier, knocking out “The Diamond” in the third round with a choke at the back. .

The glasses incident happened as Oliveira left the Octagon towards the back of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. As he addressed the fans, one of them reached out and removed the glasses from Du Bronx’s face. Oliveira immediately tried to find the fan who did, and although the following video does not show him retrieving the glasses, he later confirmed to the media that he had in fact retrieved them.

Oliveira extended his submission record and winning streak

Charles Oliveira and Tony Ferguson

GettyTony Ferguson and Charles Oliveira square off during the UFC 256 weigh-in at UFC APEX on December 11, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Du Bronx had one of the most stunning career turnarounds in UFC history. During the first part of his UFC tenure, the Brazilian was relatively inconsistent, going 10-8 in his first 19 promotional fights. One fight was ruled no contest.

But since his last defeat, which was at the hands of Paul Felder in 2017, Oliveira has won 10 straight, including nine at the finish.

In fact, Oliveira holds the record for the most submissions and finishes in UFC history. He holds notable wins over Poirier, Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson. The Brazilian has a professional MMA record of 32-8 with a no contest.

He won the lightweight belt in May 2021 by defeating Chandler by TKO in the second round.
