Drake’s New Godfather’s Dazzling Ring Is Set With 13 Gigantic Diamonds – Robb Report
Drake’s new ring is one we’d love to kiss.
The Grammy-winning rapper recently called on a New York jeweler Alex Moss to design a flashy new bling for her finger. Dubbed the Godfather’s Ring, the personalized piece is a far cry from the simple silver band. Marlon Brando’s character, Vito Corleone, had his underlings snog in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 hit. The Godfather.
Champagne Papi’s 18k white gold ring instead features a collection of 12 dazzling oval VVS (very, very lightly included) diamonds that surround a giant stone in the center. Moss, who was personally commissioned by Drizzy, had to create the one-off at extremely short notice and said that “there was no room for error”. Apparently, the name is a nod to the Godfather’s size and commanding presence.
Like Coppola’s film, the ring is part of a trilogy. Moss also handcrafted an all-iced necklace and bracelet for the “Hotline Bling” singer in his Fifth Avenue studio. Of course, the set coordinates perfectly with Drake’s signature diamond studs.
“Creating elegance with this set was the goal, using the finest materials at the highest level of craftsmanship,” Moss said. Robb Report by email.
These aren’t the only accessories Moss has made for Drake, either. The jeweler previously forged the rapper’s Lucky Number 11 ring. The diamond-covered piece features an owl motif that has become synonymous with Drake’s fashion label OVO (October’s Very Own). The ring is also said to be a reference to the musician’s son; Adonis Graham was born on October 11.
Beyond Canadian rap royalty, Moss and his eponymous studio seem to have quite a high-profile following. The sumptuous pieces of jewelry Gallery have various high-profile names attached, from Tyler, the Creator to Jack Harlow to Bella Thorne. Each design seems to have the same more-is-more aesthetic for celebrities who like to show off.
Drake is certainly no wallflower when it comes to fashion. He has previously worn an emerald-encrusted Patek Philippe Nautilus designed by the late Virgil Abloh as well as a Rolex Day-Date with a turquoise dial and a sparkling bezel set with 32 diamonds.
Maybe gems are the one thing Drake can’t refuse.
