Diddy once bought fake diamonds in Saint Martin

While he can buy anything he wants, including expensive jewelry, that doesn’t mean Diddy still wants it. In 2018, GQ sat down with former Bad Boy artists and other associates to paint a picture of Diddy behind the scenes.

Fonzworth Bentley, Diddy’s former personal valet, remembered a story while they were on Saint Martin in the Caribbean and Diddy was captivated by the diamond jewelry being sold in the shops.

“He went to town to give a present to the mother of two of his children,” Bentley said. “So there are all these really nice shops and we came across this one and there were these diamond watches and they were really nice.”

“There was something really unique about them and I remember him asking me, ‘Hey, let me see this one. He picked it up and he looked at it, and then the price was there, and the price was about $2,500. He was like, ‘Wait, are those fakes?’ And the woman was like, ‘Yeah, those aren’t real.’ And he was like, ‘Wait, wait, let me see this one right here,’” he continued.

“So he puts it on and we look at it and we both marvel,” he recalled. “He looks at me and he says, ‘They’re not going to think it’s fake on Diddy. “”
