Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has given all of our favorite royals a hard time. It all started on Monday, October 31, but there was nothing scary about Maxima’s elegant arrival. Go around the Acropolis of AthensMaxima turned to Greek designers Zeus & Dione for a sculptural column dress in burnt orange and beige, paired with a Sophie Habsburg clutch, Gianvito Rossi pumps, a veiled pillbox and oversized shades. Standing against the breathtaking backdrop of the 5th century BC monument, the Dutch queen accomplished quite a feat; being the main attraction of a marvel of ancient history.

That evening, the Queen arrived at the Greek presidential palace for a state banquet hosted by President Katerina Sakellaropoulou. For the occasion, Maxima embraced full-throttle royal grandeur in a floor-length lace and velvet dress, with diamonds to boot. The stunning high-necked dress came from Costarellos – another nod to Greek designers – and when it comes to jewellery, the monarch chose to wear the Tiara Mellerio Ruby Adornment with a matching parure brooch (which also includes a ruby-encrusted fan, first commissioned for Queen Emma of the Netherlands in 1888).
