Oh, summer. The days are longer, the weather is warmer and we are all generally in a better mood. This mood boost is only, uh, boosted with the help of one or two of the best summer scents.
Of course, there are no hard and fast rules as to what perfume you wear all year round; the scent is very personal. But the seasonal spritzers we tend to lean towards this time of year are often lighter with citrus, fruity and floral notes, while the heavier spicy and woody concoctions take a back seat.
Let us tell you, there are some corks that have been launched recently, so we decided to round up a few new summer scents that would pair perfectly with an outdoor picnic or a glass of Pimms. This way for your new signature fragrance…
5 of the Best Summer Scents for 2022
Caudalie Eau Fraîche Thé Des Vignes, £28 for 50ml here
This floral number is one of five vine-inspired fragrances offered by Caudalie, with notes of jasmine, white musk, orange blossom and neroli. It’s a nice floral and slightly fruity scent, but not too sweet. Although it’s only 50ml, it’s still one of the more affordable fragrances out there, so a great choice if you don’t want to spend too much.
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Fresh Water Sunburst Bottle, £67 for 100ml here
OK, OK, *technically* this classic scent has been around for a long time but the bottle is limited edition, which is good enough for us. This scent is probably one of the most beloved holiday scents of all time among beauty editors and influencers, all creamy with coconut, vanilla, and sandalwood. And who wouldn’t love this cheerful sun motif? Someone we know…
Ariana Grande Eau de Parfum God is a woman, £28 for 30ml here
Long before we got good makeup (read Associate Beauty Editor Zoe’s Chapter 2 review to see what we mean), Ariana Grande has blessed us with several affordable fragrances over the years. The new addition named after one of its most recognizable hits is a fruity floral scent that’s a fresh blend of ambrette, pear, Turkish rose petals, vanilla and creamy cedar – all for less of £30.
Diptych Ilio Eau de Toilette, £107 for 100ml here
The limited-edition Summer Essentials collection from French perfume house Diptyque is inspired entirely by the Mediterranean, so naturally the Ilio fragrance is truly vacation vibes. Think bergamot, prickly pear, jasmine and iris. Beautifully illustrated bottle aside, this is a wonderful summer scent and despite being an EDT, we found it to last quite well. It’s fresh and sweet and smells like the sun – perfect for the next vacation in Greece or Italy.
Eau de Parfum Collector’s Edition MCM, £69.50 for 50ml here
Raspberry, apricot, peony and jasmine are the key players in this fresh unisex scent, lifted to a woody and vanilla base that isn’t too heavy for this time of year. And if you like fun packaging, this new bottle, created in collaboration with Korean street artist SAMBYPEN, will be a great addition to your perfume collection.
